Tao Advisory was founded by Chris Cheung. Tao Advisory is a fractional CFO and management consulting business, specializing in presentations, business planning, brand strategy, financials, commercialization, turnaround, go-to-market strategy and execution. Tao Advisory also has a people centric offering, leading corporate culture transformation and offering a 1-on-1 executive coaching program.
Tao Advisory has a networking division, that connects buyers and sellers of commodities trading including fuel, financial instruments, cryptocurrency and gold.
Chris lives and works from Laguna Beach, California.
Chris is currently the Founder and CEO of Tao Advisory, which is primarily a private client fractional CFO, management consulting and advisory business in the USA.
Before this, he was the CFO of Orion Power, an energy company with a showcase product that is the world’s lowest emissions Pyrolysis machine, that turns plastics and tire waste into jet fuel. He was also the CFO and Chief Strategy Officer of Playup USA, an online sports betting startup company, with licenses in New Jersey and Colorado.
Chris has had over 25 years of finance, tech, strategic and operational experience in senior leadership roles, primarily in the gambling industry since 2006. He helped oversee finance operations, commercial and strategic advisory of starting up 3 online bookmakers (AU, UK, US), an international VIP wagering business, and the omni-channel businesses of Tabcorp, one of the largest gambling companies in Australia. Chris has also played strategic advisory roles to CEO’s in other industries including blockchain, crypto, hedge fund, medical, education, wellness, self-help and disruptive tech. He has also assisted start-ups with successful fundraising activities for seed, Series A+ rounds up to $50m.
Prior to this, as a graduate of Melbourne University (B.Com, B.IS) Chris began his career in tech at an ISP, followed by a teaching role at Melbourne University and soon after became a chartered accountant, working in audit and business advisory for a big 5 firm Pitcher Partners.
Chris is not only passionate about helping businesses thrive, but people also. He has coached individuals, couples and families to breakthrough destructive self-defeating behaviors on a path towards healthy relationships, physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. His creative outlet extends beyond thought and words - in being a professional dancer, pianist, and martial artist.
